The Royal Wind Music

The Royal Wind Music is a recorder double quintet formed of an array of musicians from around the world. They perform repertoire from the golden age of polyphony on an impressive collection of renaissance recorders and they are known for their engaging performances and ability to communicate with the audience. Playing entirely from memory and without a conductor, the ensemble brings Renaissance music to life has captivated a steadily-growing worldwide audience since its founding in 1997, by Paul Leenhouts.

Rune

Rune is an ensemble of five musicians dedicated to sharing their joint passion for medieval music in the UK. The name is derived from the Old English 'rūn', meaning a mystical spell-song, and reflects the groups fascination with the rare and touching beauty of music from 700 years ago. The ensemble approaches this music with curiosity and dedication, sharing deeply researched programmes as well as outreach projects for kids, all with the purpose of sharing stories that challenge and enrich our preconceptions of the past, and present.

The Eternal Feminine

An interdisciplinary collaboration between Emily Bannister and Daniel Scott (recorders), Anastasia Terranova (voice), Maria Mavridou (dance) and Verena Barié (composition), The Eternal Feminine is a prize winning music theatre performance that is funded by Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst. From Monteverdi to Beyoncé, the woman in art is often a creature of mythical proportions. In this interactive performance with dance, theatre and music, we follow the life of such an archetypal woman, from child to adult. Inventively, the roles of these women in art in both past and present are juxtaposed and mirrored.

Duo Accendo

Daniel has a passion for early music and has researched and presented his own unique programmes at The Utrecht Early Music Festival Fringe, the Open Recorder Days Amsterdam Fringe and in the Amsterdam concert series’ Les Goûts Réunis and Sit Fast Concerten. Daniel won the Royal Overseas League Solo Wind, Brass & Percussion competition 2022 and was a finalist for the Moeck/SRP recorder competition 2021.

Teaching

Daniel is an enthusiastic and committed teacher, he currently teaches recorder at Scholen in de Kunst, Amersfoort and privately in Amsterdam. His teaching style is informed by his own research into Deliberate Practice and the Alexander Technique. He focuses on helping students find their own personal voice through music, whilst supporting that with effective practice techniques and a free and relaxed use of the body.
